There's a lady in Hillsborough who does alterations, I think it's PJ Fashions, or something like that. She works from home.
She altered a ball gown of mine, and was really quick too! I wish I could sew...

I need my wedding dress altering. The bottom half from the wasit down is fine but the top half, which has bones around it, is too big. Does anyone know anywhere or anyone that can alter it for me?

Would anyone be able to tell me roughly how much wedding dress alterations cost?

I'm really tempted to get a dress off the internet as they are cheaper, but if it's going to cost over £100 to have it altered to fit perfectly, then that kinda defeats the object doesn't it!

Hello girls..
Just have a little question.. I've bought my wedding dress from Berketex, its called shanessa and very beautiful.
They are charging £160 for alterations, which I think is a bit steep.. Although it only needs taking up it is trimmed with lace and so would prob be quite a bit of work.. I just wanted to know if the price is a steep as I think it is?? any advice would be great..
Thanks Annie

I think it is steep.I had looby lou's mom alter my dress and I definately recommend her.She had a big job to do with my dress taking up 10 layers of chiffon and she removed the bottom ribbon , replaced some of the detail on the skirt that she had removed from the bottom. She was also very quick. It was a lot cheaper than your quote.

I've heard good things about looby lous mum too, and i'm having mine altered by tricia in ecclesfield. lovely lady and shes charging me £40-£60 to take the dress up and adjust the bodice a little. My dress is trimmed with marabou at the bottom so it means taking that off and replacing so quite a fiddly job.

Hi,
Just reading your post.
I'm currently living in Canada and I worked freelance in the South Yorkshire area for several Bridal Stores.
That price is extremely steep but in line with what a lot of shops will charge you.
If you contact seamstresses direct you will find the price more reasonable. I would charge around £35 for side seams.
I'll be back for the whole of November if that's any good to you!

I am buying my wedding dress as a sample. Currently it fits perfectly, just needs hem taking up an inch or so. But as I dont get married till next August I might need more doing nearer the time.

Can anyone reccommend an alteration service? The shop I am buying from do offer a package, but as its in Brighton I'd rather not have to travel down there lots!

Thanks in advance!

A lady called Trisha did my alterations and was very good, but as it was last August I got married I can't find her number, she works from home at Parson cross/Ecclesfield, think she's done a few other ladies dresses on here too. Her prices and service are very good.

If you ring La Bella Brides at Chapletown they will def have her number
