Hi all,

Right first of all I'm not currently a classic car owner tho I would hope mine would become one one day. I own a 1994 Mazda RX-7.

Anyways since we're all car enthusiasts I wonder if anyone knows the answers to the following?

1. Is there anywhere in Sheff or around that can make up engine pulleys. I'm after a power steering pulley, idle (tensioner) pulley and a crank pulley making up to replace the standard ones. Basically exactly the same size etc just out of alloy.

2. Are there any good metal polishers in Sheff or near by that people can recommend. I want various engine parts polishing. The last people I used only managed to do the bigger outer areas of a manifold but I would like them to get into all those little crevices.

I'm currently swapping my engine out for a lower mileage one so it's the best time to do it

Anyways any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Hi Dave. Thanks for the link, I'll get onto them today

As for spares, there's a couple of forums on http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/ and http://www.fduk.org/ that have for sale sections so there's sometimes people breaking cars. Also I've found ebay is quite useful as well, make sure you search for rx7 and rx-7 as not everyone spells it the same Also you could ask at some of the rotary specialists that are listed on mazda rotary club.

Sounds like an interesting project! Reminds me I must get new brake pads while mine is off the road.

Polishing 'main bits' isn't a problem, and I'd recommend Anchor Auto Polishers, just opposite Armando’s scooters round the corner from CCC's, near Bramall lane.
However, if you want somebody to get into all the nooks and crannies, let me know if you find somebody - I've only seen that done on TV, on Boyd Coddingham custom cars that cost hundreds of thousands.

Back in the UK, I don't know of a single polisher who's willing to use a Dremmel or similar to get into all the corners - it's mind-numbing work, uses loads and loads of consumables, and will cost a packet.

The best I’ve been able to do is get the main areas polished by a polishing shop, then get into the corners myself. Annoying - I’d be happy to pay.
