How long have you had him? Its likely that he's just scared because he's in a new environment. Give it a week and he'll be fine. If he's NEW new, then its likely he's absolutely terrified you're going to eat him, so feed him, water him, give him hay, don't try picking him up and just leave him be for a few days, and everything will be fine.

Pad the bottom of his hutch woth carpet to absorb the noise. Is he neutered? Some bunnies are just natural thumpers and others will calm down with time, especially if its down to a change of environment. He may feel threatened, how is his hutch positioned, where is he kept and does he have a covered sleeping area?

Try covering the bottom of his hutch with Vetbed - cos this will reduce the noise and is perfectly safe for your rabbit - you can also wash it so it is an ideal bed.

Hi Jennycakes - you can get vetbed from any petshop or shop at your local vets - they also sell it on ebay. I would suggest that you also treat the cause as well as the effect - I know you are trying - as rabbits can damage themselves (spinal cord) by thumping too hard with their hind legs.
