Hi,

I registered with hays in May 2002 and they got my a job at Lombard, i worked at lombard through hays until December 03 where Lombard then took me on as a permanent member of staff until i left in 2005.

So.....this is where my question lies....

Do I write my cv as I was working at lombard from may 2002 till june 2005 or write it as working for hays (lombard) from may 2002 till december 2003 then another section where i worked for lombard from december 2003 till june 2005.

Hope this is clear as it quite hard to describe

I guess it depends!
If youve had loads of jobs and want to show an employer stability I would put Lombard in the main column but if you felt uneasy with this a very small footnote. This would also demonstrate that you were good enough to be kept on.
However, if you feel that its quite a long period to be with one employer (depends on the rest of your career background) then Id put both down.
ie I worked for one employer for around 12 years but as my role continually evolved I put down job titles and departments and only if recruiters read hard enough would it be apparent it was the same organisation!

Be truthful, put down both instances of your work for Lombards. If your new employers ask for a reference from Lombards they will only receive one for the period when you were a permanent employee.

Just do it as one job, with the full dates and then state underneath that you initially started as a temp through Hays, but were then offered a permanent contract after x number of months. The fact that the first few months was through an agency doesn't really make a difference to how long you were there, but it needs mentioning briefly as it's a positive reflection on you that you were offered perm hours by them.
