Watched the game last night, and at 18 Rooney blew me away.

Looks like this lad has a promising career ahead of him.

what did anyone else think?

His finishing was superb. He's so confident it's unreal. Long may it continue!

He had an electrifying start to his Man Utd career. However, I will not make predictions for the future based on one match against the local kebab shop.

I see that Mr Freeman has come up trumps again and managed to get Rooney off 3 driving charges.

Just hope he can sustain it. There's the famous quote about genius "a candle that burns at both ends burns twice as bright but burns twice as quickly".
Thinking of George Best, Gazza, Maradonna etc etc.

Rooney is a legend in the making BUT we must pause for a moment and consider how the VERY young mr Rooney is treated.
If he is playing every game, week in week out, he could possibly go the same way as a certain mr Owen and 'Burn out'.
I think Alex Ferguson is wise enough to not play Rooney all the time, and therefore, one day he will be THE legend of world football

Rooney did not have a good match last night against Boro, poor kid must have been wiped out from getting the superb hat trick in europe earlier in the week. But Besty,Pele did not have a great game everytime. This kid will be a world beater in a few years. He is exciting to watch & I have seen many great players over the last 40 odd years,he is right up there with the best & rightly so.

See if he has the same record as micheal owen then eh lads when rooney is 24,He is a bit overrated for me he was poor vs wales and boro and rarely shined for everton,vs wales he lost the ball cheaply gave it away with his typical poor passing, and the cut back when defoe, owen, becks was stood waiting dont get me started i'll just keep a eye on the over weight overrated KID

I presume you're being sarcastic

Hopefully Young Wayne will be able to keep away from major injury at least until the age of 24. 'Fraid I think Micky Owen's career is on the fade - when the tabloid rumours about him joining Middlesborough start circulating (and they will), you'll know he's finished

Four in four games for Real Madrid, wow that's some fading star.

Rooney is good but weren't we saying all this about giggs (and beckham) at one point?
Now don't get me wrong even as a Liverpool supporter I concede they are two very good players - but better than Pele, Marradona etc?
I doubt he has the tempremant judging by the times he seems to lose his rag. He had a pretty poor disciplinery record at Everton too. I Suspect refs. will get on his back, defenders will wind him up and his career will be be small patches of genius with huge gaps of injuries and suspensions....

No he didn't. The reverse is true, Shreck plays Rooney.

I used to like rooney but since joining man u he become very dirty and selfish which i noticed during the wales match
i am currently watching the spain game and svens taken him off before he gets sent off !!

But i cant deny he's a fantastic player i just think moving to man u so young was a bad move to nurture his ability.
