I was the same when my three year old was a baby, and my other half recently told me that Im going to be putting a LOT more input into the new baby. That means doing the lot!
Its only fair in my case, I admit to being a lazy slob and theres no reason for me to sit there and let her do everything.

I can totally relate to that but the chances of Mr Z reading it and getting the hint is minimal. He is really good on nappy duty thought - but he whines about it so it isn't always worth it.

It's wound me up from the beginning. A friend of mine insists they do it on purpose because they are selfish and know we will take the slack because there is simply no choice.
I am slightly nicer than that...I think that we are more immediately wired into a baby's needs, so we never have a choice, but they do actually 'forget' and have to be reminded. I think the only cure for it is for them to be forced to spend 24 hours (at least) completely alone with their offspring, say once a month, to remind them that they don't just conveniently disappear when your back is turned.

you're sooooo absolutely right, the default setting is definitely mummy. that said, i left babybabychickens with her dad for 4.5hrs on friday, and she was fed, bathed, and put to bed when i got home, even if she had been forced to watch World's Strongest Man. And, just to prove how wonderful he's being, i was hungover this morning, and he looked after everything until about an hour ago.

i almost feel human for a change!

babychickens where did you find him? can i have one?

my hubby will let me have a layin but i get up more stressed as kids are still in pjs, kitchens a tip "i didnt get to tidy, do pots, change nappys ect as i was watching kids" though i do get my own back as i make him change youngest lads nappy and it usualy smells bad

its been proven that men cannot do more than one thing at a time

Erm... well.... you...... ah yes there was that one time when you...... oh, no, that was me.......well, I suppose you bath the girls, about 10% of the times that they need it and only about 80% of the times I actually ask you to. Times that you've bathed the girls without me telling you they need one first....NIL!
There's more, shall I put it all on here? Nahhhh, so long as you dance to The Wiggles to entertain the girls and follow the user manual I'm sure we'll cope!

your lucky you have another half who forgets! for 1st year i had almsot no support with mini and done it all myself... now i am back home my mummy helps me!

anyway back to you post! Print it off and put copies all over as a subtle reminder

Savbaby, I was just talking about single parentdom with my neighbour last night. My mother raised me on her own, which I always had respect for - but now that I've actually got my own monster baby, my respect has deepened vastly - I don't know how you do it, and you deserve a knighthood!!!
At least if it all gets really too much, I can grab my darling husband by the short and curlies and demand help NOW OR DIE. Which I have been known to do...lol

lol, i actually have had it relativley easy! mini sav is great natured and used to sleep through the night from very young, the only problems i have had is worry with health at times! It does get stressfull at times when you want to have a shower or even a little sleep but you know when she does that cute little something that makes me smile it takes the stress away

on other hand when i turned my back for 5 mins last night she stripped off and covered herself head to toe(literally!!) in sudocreme and looked as though she jumped into a pool of white paint. today she looks like she has been dipped in grease as its taking many washes to get off

Tonight it took 3 people to wrangle cosycub through bath and bed... he's on antibiotics and they seem to keep him awake...he was so tired he was hysterical - I mean completely, horrendously beside himself. I thought Daddywolf was out for the night and recruited a neighbour to help, but he came home early, thankfully. Still, at least I have some great neighbours/friends to rely on in times of need as well as my husband. I'm very lucky. Maybe I took the saying 'it takes a whole community to raise a child' a little too literally...

Hmmm.. reminds me of a joke I read once.. let's see if I can remember it in part!

Husband comes home from work one lunchtime to find the two children running around the garden screaming, naked and filthy. Their faces are covered in snot and dried food. The wheelie bin has been tipped over and there is rubbish strewn all over the garden.
Shocked, he steps into the house to find cereal and milk covering the hallway. The pots are stacked to overflowing in the kitchen sink. The fridge door is swinging open, with food tipped out all over the floor. Dirty washing is strewn out of the washer and the laundry bin is overflowing. He notices one child eating dogfood out of its bowl and the dog helps by licking the childs face. There is a dirty nappy smeared acoss the living room floor. He slips in a puddle of wee as he anxiously moves upstairs to look for his wife, who's safety he is in fear of. As he goes upstairs he can hear the bath running and the water is spilling over onto the bathroom floor, the bath full of every last bit of bubble bath, shampoo and toothpaste in the house. Toothbrushes are down the toilet. He peers, frightened, into the bedroom, wher he is stunned to find his wife sat quietly in bed, reading a book.

"Darling! Are you all right? What in the name of god happened here?!" he cries.

"Well, sweetheart" she replied. "You know when you come home and ask me what on earth I've been doing all day..?

Today, I didn't do it."

Pre kids I did do that - someone I was in a long term relationship with justr didn't do housework. So I stopped to prove a point. I didn't do any dishes vacuuming, dusting or anything except clothes washing (so I was always clean at least) for 3 months. Bizarrely he's is now a very tidy man! 3 months was a killer though!

No, thanks! I have done it, and guess what....nothing gets done! This house is a big enough mess without leaving him to it. And I'll have to give in before Environmental Health get involved, and it's an even bigger nightmare by then...
