Since i moved house, everytime i move about on my bed it makes a horrible squeeking noise which wakes me up.

The noise comes from near the headboard usually down one side of my bed. Iv tried tightening the screws but they wont go any tighter. The bed itself is in bad condition because a wooden plank (or 2) has broke underneath but that at the bottom of the bed, completely nothing to do with the headboard.

Iv tried putting a pillow between the headboard and my matress, to see if that stops the squeeking. The squeeking isnt as loud but doesnt stop it completely.

I really cant afford a new bed at the minute, plus despite the sqeeking, i do love my bed.

Can anybody give me any tips on how to stop the sqeeking?

And before anyone asks:

*No its not because of some raunchy fun that it sqeeks
*I dont have a mouse in my bed

Take the headboard off & rub the contact areas down with a candle, see if that has any effect

Unfortunately that is not the reason for the squeekyness!

How did I know you would say something like that?

Reduces the friction where wood is in close contact.

It's spozed to free tight desk draws too where the runners are made of wood.

My actual bed frame is metal, the only wood on it is the planks underneath. Theyr no where near the headboard though.

have you lost a washer somewhere when you rebuilt the bed?

Not that i know of... i checked all the parts before putting the matress on. And my dad has also been round and had a look at it. Hes tightened the bolts as far as they will go.

It never squeeked when i lived at parents, its just since i moved.

That's why I added the word desk & spelled draws that way instead of drawers - believe me I was tempted

Kirsty, try moving your bed slightly, there may be a bit of uneven floor thats causing the squeek

Don, iv had my bed in two different positions in my bedroom and it squeeks all the same.

I think this house needs tearing down and putting back up properly- wouldnt surprise me if it was an uneaven floor, we'v had that much trouble with the house

Tighten the Screws. One will be loose somewhere or there will be a washer missing.
Take it to bits and put it back together again.
