going to try speed dating for the first time ! there will be 8 men and 16 women how much compeition is that ( I am one of the 16 ) can ant one give me any consructive advise besides padded bra and chicken fillets !!!!

I'd say don't try and be anything. Just be yourself.
And regarding the chicken fillets, there's no point walking into a beautiful looking shop if the goods inside are a bit pants is there? How about concentrating on bringing out your nicer qualities in the short time that you have.
Equally, if the exterior of the same shop is bleak and uninviting, no-one will want to go in and look at what's inside. And why should they?
It's all about balance. Ultimately however, I guess it's just about being yourself.
Perhaps think of a couple of interesting questions that give you a little insight into who the other person is, after all, you only get a short period of time.

its time some one realised that there is life after 30 and more was made available ie clubs which are not full of 20s, not that i have anything against th younger ones(lucky sods) but its nice to socialise with people your own age even more so if you re not lookin for a toy boy or a barbie girl

Mini's Story
After a speed date I fell in love. It was wonderful for about two days, we went everywhere together and wanted to spend every second in each others arms. By Thursday we had got ourselves into a routine. She was staying in and I was going out with mates or visa - vesa! We had an argument sometime in the afternoon. She had never spoken me like that before. On friday we drifted apart, both feeling isolated and trapped in the relationship, although desperately trying to find meaning. At noon on Friday she had our first child we named him 'flash' in a speed baptism in Las Vegas. On Saturday we had a trial separation so we could both explore other avenues. We put flash into care . 'Flash ahhhh ahhhh' I cried that night. In the morning, we got back together hopeful of rebuilding what we once had and we even got little flash back who was now six. But two hours later we realised it was no good. My girlfriend was seeing a micro wave engineer that she met at another speed dating event. The trust was gone. I started drinking heavily and let myself go. Almost one week after our first meeting at the speed date I woke up on a park bench. I decided to get help. I wanted Flash back. But it was too late. My ex had moved to Australia and flash was a 36 yr old insurance salesman.
speed dating ruined my life.
