Have just read the front page of today's Star with the heartrending, horrifying story of the 2 pensioners knocked down by a stolen motorbike on City Road.
"A HUSBAND watched in horror as his wife of 54 years was mown down and killed by joyriders as they walked hand-in-hand across a Sheffield road.
Distraught Kenneth Maskrey collapsed beside his 74-year-old wife Margaret's body, screaming out her name in anguish as she lay slumped on the pavement outside City Road cemetery."
And the story continues in a similar vein. 2 brainless idiots - one 19, one 21 - so they were old enough to know better - riding along at the kerb's edge at ridiculous speeds on a stolen bike have shattered this guy's life. 54 years they'd been together and he sees his wife killed like this, with her leg severed. He is never going to be the same again, it's a wonder the shock hasn't killed him too. I defy anyone to read that story and not ache for that poor man and his family.

And then on page 7, we have the 'cheeky' youths giving the mayor and senior police officials 'backchat' while sitting on a wall waiting for someone else to provide them with something to do to stop them being bored. Obviously they don't have the brainpower to find something for themselves. And soon they'll be like the morons on the motorbike, ruining other innocent people's lives. How much longer do we have to put up with this? How much longer do people who work hard and wouldn't dream of harming others have to live in fear of workshy, violent, brainless ferals whose only contribution to society is to breed more like themselves to sponge off the rest of us. How much longer do we have to wait for punishments harsh enough to deter these little scrotes? It needs to stop but no-one with any power has the guts to say so.

Its getting to the stage where ordinary decent, law abiding tax payers are 1. too afraid to go out, or when they do go out theyre constantly looking over their shoulders for people like these. 2. fed up of these people being caught, then released by the courts with a mere slap on the wrist.

Why is the government too scared to deal with them properly, it all seems to me that the government want to "rehabilitate" these people, but at the end of the day, they make these choices, they chose to steal that motorbike.....how can they be helped/rehabilitated when they dont want to change.

Having lived in a rouch estate in sheffield it really opened my eyes as to how they get like this.....the parents dont want them around so the kids are left to bring themselves up causing such trauma to everyone around them.
Its about time that the law came down hard on these people, they dont contribute they just consume our tax money because they dont want to work, everythings expected to be given to them on a plate.

its something that really makes my blood boil...

And to think that some parties on here are complaining about the "Copper chopper" making a little noise when it spends much of its time bringing this human faeces to justice.

What has a measure of the disorder of molecules in substances etc.that are mixed or in contact with each other, indicating the amount of energy that is not available for use because it has become more evenly distributed instead of being concentrated got to do with it.

I really have a major dislike to the ASBO/Chav scene that has cropped up not only around Sheffield but the whole of the UK. It is stupid beyond belief and yet it continues, sometimes I feel ashamed to actually be British because of little gets like them.

I would incorporate the USA style 3 strikes and your out for thefts, joy riding type crimes, with a minimum 10 years. Murders proven guilty - 50 years minimum. serial killers - electric chair, rapists and paedophiles - castration.

These are pretty much my suggestions too. I know what I'd really like to do to them but if I say it here, there'll only be a load of people being outraged....

As the prisons are already vastly overcrowded, and the prison service itself stretched to overflowing, how would you incarcerate more criminals for longer? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, I'm just interested in how you'd reform the prison system to make your ideas feasible. From where would the money to pay for these reforms come?

how about a bootcamp style prison for younger offenders.
make them do stretch there. It stands a better chance of sorting the scrotes out.
early mornings, hard physical training and strict discipline.

Sending them to prison wont teach them anything other than the usual bad habits that we hear about in prison.

however that suggestion would no doubt be critiscised by the do gooders in the country, they would probably prefer to send them on a nice holiday somewhere to help the poor misunderstood youths!

In times when we are exporting jobs.....in order presumably that they can be done more cheaply surely we may have the answer. Let our criminals be exported to serve their sentences in prisons abroad....say Turkey, Pakistan, India....the choices are numerous. If we have a few fatalities in transit or during incarceration I am sure we would be able to live with it. I would try my best not to lose too many nights sleep over it.

There has been too many do gooders that have brought all this on and now its hard to pull back. I got involved with some gobby teenagers the other night and then later some more causing grief at the local gym.

When i think of the good hidings i had as a kid for doing a lot less than they do today. thats what they are all short of. So what do we do ? we are in the wrong if we say anything back / we are wrong if we touch anyone / we are wrong if we retaliate and protect our property. The Kids gat away with it.. So do we all stand back and let them get on with it.

I agree that you should protect yourselves however there are ways to do within the law. For instance let them hit first, knock em down in self defence. It is VERY important you do not hit them again on the ground or it would be assault. Once you have got them out of your way you get out quick and call the police and report assault. Sorted, trust me it works if you use the law to the very letter.
