We've just spent the evening cleaning the mud off Mr Strix's gear
You saw the rain on Friday? Well it was
far heavier where Mr Strix and his colleagues were going

.... Glen Shiel
Seven of them set off on Friday afternoon for a Youth Hostel in Glen Shiel, and arrived through a torrential downpour, watching the water cascade off the mountains they'd be tackling the very next day
Saturday morning saw a turn in the weather, and Mr Strix has brought home
sunburn
They parked at a clearing at the foot of Bealach an Lapain and began the steep, muddy ascent - Mr Strix sporting a pair of mismatching gaiters, one of them being mine
They turned right along the ridge, away from the Five Sisters, and headed towards the first Munro - Saileag. From here they tackled Sgurr a Bhealaich Dheirg, then Aonach Meadhoin, Sgurr an Fhuarail, then dropped five hundred metres before the final ascent to Ciste Dhubh.
The descent was via a boggy valley - An Caorann Beag, down to the Cluanie Inn
Although Mr Strix and Co. had a fantastic weekend, he strongly recommends you only take a very fit pair of legs and lungs if you're considering tackling this 9 1/2 hour gruelling trek
On the way home, his excuse for not bringing me a new bottle of whisky was 'I'm in Callander - the off licence is shut'.
'Well it will be - the licencing laws are different up there, and it's
Sunday'
