Just been told that my daughters school now has cubicle toilets that are to be used by both sexes. What are your views on this?

don't agree at all with this. I understand when they have them in nurseries and the like, but not at school. It isn't appropriate.

I dont agree with it neither. If they are really young then they dont really understand everything but you have to set an example of privacy. Plus you'll always get one little Tommy who likes to go to far

Well if that's the case then sex education will be taught in the bogs and condoms should be provided on the door.

I don't think its appropiate, mainly for the reason that most girls start their periods during this time and i don't think they would want boys in the toilets while dealing with this.
Besides nearly all public toilets are segregated so why should school be any different. And mens/boys toilets always smell worse

I dont agree with this at all, in fact its asking for trouble. Girls and boys of that age ar inquisitive plus you know you'll get many lads / lasses who start hanging over the top and looking under the doors etc

They are cubicles with a sink in each one, im told the doors go right up to the ceiling but there is a small gap under each door.

Who cares what size the doors are? This shouldn't be allowed girls and boys need their privacy and this is asking for trouble

Which school is this? If the cubicles are secure and private, I don't see why it should be a problem.

Kids being kids it could be problematical unless the cubicles are secure, say for example a cubicle was a little room with a toilet and wash basin and the dor then opened out onto the corridor rather than into a washroom. However I remember in Paris going to a public loo and it was unisex. Rather odd to be stood at the trough and have some girl walking behind me.

I think it is insensitive to say the least to do this when boys and girls are going through their most vulnerable and bewildering changes, both physically and emotionally. Whether you're talking curiosity or practical jokes or just trying to find some private dignity when your hormones are going haywire, or a place where you can have a private chat about boy trouble etc. This seems to ignore the very real insecurities of adolescence. Just remembering experiences at my own school, I don't like the sound of this at all.

that is just asking for trouble, i would rather take my kids out then have them sharing. i didnt like the kids sharing the same class room to get changed for p.e so i got parents to sign a form saying they objected to it, at first the responce i got was they had been doing it that was for years. but i quoted one of the letters "lets bring this school in to the futre" the kids nowadays are growing up faster, now then they ever did we got them to change it in the end.
