Norton Woodseats near Graves Park

Recently moved to S8 and not changing the kids school but would like them to make friends locally. Does anyone know of local classes ie. dance, rainbows, beavers, cubs or anything at all which I could put them in, in order to make a few local friends. They are aged 5 & 6 girl and boy. Thanks for any help.

There is a local scouts/beaver/rainbow/brownies group at the Church Hall I believe just along the road from St James's Church itself - the contact telephone numbers are normally featured in the church magazine issue called ''Insight'' which maybe delivered to you if you actually live in the parish!

There is also lots of activities from trampolining to martial arts etc taking place at Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre which tend to attract many local kids !!

The Rose Garden Cafe within Graves Park often has a 'storytelling' session by a local grandmother for young children too - you could always ask the staff there for more details etc

Woodseats and Greenhill libraries are also a good source of information for local activities/groups for kids!

Hi thanks for your quick reply. I know St James Church - we are near the flat entrance to Graves Park - the one down from the animal park entrance. Derbyshire Lane area. Mundella school would have been our catchment school. Thanks for mentioning about the church I could try the one down the road and see if they have any notices about whats on.

There's a dance school on Valley Rd, which isn't too far from you

Hi you must literally be around the corner from me, are you on Derbyshire Lane orHemsworth Road by any chance? Are you settingl in ok? We've been here just over a year and it really is an idyllic location for the children - can't imagine living anywhere else in Sheffield now. Look out for the double buggy pushed along Hemsworth/Cobnar Rd or Derbyshire Lane by the out of breath mum - that's me!

Hi out of breath mum, I remember those days my two are a year apart and I lived at Greystones which is really hilly was a struggle getting up the hills. I am on Derbyshire Lane. How old are your kiddies? Sue

Hi Sue my two are 19 months and 7 months respectively one boy, one girl. I never imagined it would be such hard work! I love it but I really hope there is never a world shortage of coffee or anything. Are you finding things ok here up on the hill? p.s sorry for delay in responding, not had chance to log on recently - lots of teething going on in our house! xx jo
