I'm still on holiday, any ideas where I can take my wife and 6-year old daughter tomorrow for the day. Was thinking of Gulliver's at Matlock, but had a look on their site and to be honest doesn't look too great.

Alton Towers is a no-go - I think it is quite expensive for a 6-year old who cant go on most of the major attractions.

Gullivers is great, my 6 year old loves it as she can go on virtually everything she wants to. Recently went to American Adventure for the first time with the aforementioned 6 year old and her 8 year old brother, it was also very good as it has been revamped in the last couple of years to be suitable for under 12s. We got on everything we wanted with almost no waiting. If you do go there book online as then you can walk straight in without the queuing at the entrance. Also take a picnic as the food was not great.

Magna is excellent - there's also a large outdoor play area and also a water play area with fountains and squirty things which is great if it's hot (IF!). If you get fed up you can always nip down the road to Meadowhall; I think they've got clowns and stuff for the kids in the Oasis during the holidays.

Butterfly house in Anston on the way to Worksop. Lots of animals and birds and outside with a butterfly house inside. bBrds of prey demonstrations and owls and stuff.
They also had a Minor Bird you could torment!

Take the 200 mile trip down to Stone Henge, pack some sarnies and some pop. Teach the kids about the Universe, time and sacrificing animals to gods.
