Is the XP disk a full copy or an upgrade copy?
If you have a full copy of XP just insert the disk into rom drive and re-boot.
If there is any data on the drive that you want to keep, then you will need to backup first, as all data will be lost during install.

If it's an upgrade, it will modify your machine, it won't overwrite your stuff. It'l even ask if you want to save ME so you can revert back to it at a later date. Just make sure your machine is capable of running XP first. It'll crawl along like a snail on a Pentium III.

Pick NTFS as your new file system - better than FAT32, but you won't me able to go back to FAT32 after it's done.

Strange

The only PC here (out of 6) running XP is a 700M PIII with 256M memory, and it's pretty nippy
