Just wondering if anyone has as I emailed them today about a couple of recycling questions and I hope they don't give me a rubbish standard response.

My points were..

1) Could there be a cardboard recycling bin be placed at the recycling drop off points?

(I understand we have blue bins in Sheffield, but I can't use mine due to living above a shop and it's a struggle to get my normal waste taken away never mind the blue bins - it's much easier to walk to a recycling point)

2) On visiting Leeds City Centre I noted that they have special bins for recycling. Is this something that will be brought into Sheffield?

Anyone else agree? I think the second idea would be brilliant in Sheffield, it's no hassle for people to put their plastic bottles/cans in a different bin and would help the environment so much!

Yes and exceptionally I actually even got a letter taking on board all of my points and an apology for having been so inconvenienced. BUT I think I should get that letter framed as being the exception to the rule because that is totally atypical.

More typically it's first lines of defence and damage limitation all the way down the line.

I often run a set thread on SF. All findings are emailed to the council... I have to say, I find their service/response times brilliant.

I have -

I managed after a number of weeks complaining at the open meetings of 'The City Centre Forum' which are generally held at the Friends Meting House to get the picture of a steaming dog turd removed from the dog poop and scoop bin sited on the Devonshire Green. Thing is we know what a dog poop and scoop bin is for and dont need a picture of a steaming dog turd on the bin to remind us. Shame is that there arent any toilets for humans anywhere near this busy commercial area where people eat & drink. Thats the council for you!!!!

Yes, I've had responses and action relating to pavement drops for wheelchairs but it can take about nine months for them to 'deliver'!

I've been in touch with the council several times with suggestions (street signs, road repairs and that kind of thing.)and found them to be polite on every occasion.

We usually see some action within a fairly short time too.

Don't read as much into the recycling of the blue bins as you may think. It's all taken to Bernard road and disposed of in the same way as house hold waste. Burnt.
