sounds as though it could be a blocked plate heat exchanger but wouldnt like to say for definite without coming out and doing some fault finding for you. Cheers Jon

Hi all, can anyone please advise me on whether I can install a Glow Worm Swiftflow 80 pump in my Compact 80 boiler? Are they the same? My pump is on its way out and I've seen a second-hand on ebay and wondered if it's worth putting a bid in...

I've tried googling it but can't find a definitive answer so would be grateful for any advice given.

Thanks very much.

M

Short answer...no, they are completely different. Ring Heatparts (01142589794) give them boiler make/model GC number (think part number is 801192), they will advise if parts are available and ensure you get the correct one. Never advise buying parts second hand as no warranty, may not work, may not be correct part etc etc

As above, I would always advise getting the proper replacement part. May be more expensive initially but you get a guarantee and can be sure it is the correct part. Thanks, Lee

i have a worcester 25Si combi, when the heating is off the pressure is low, below 1 but when it is on the pressure goes to between 3 and 4. I have noticed the prv dripping water when the heating is on. Could the expansion vessal be at fault if so i could i check?

The diaphragm in the expansion vessel could have split. You can try depressing the air inlet valve and if water comes out, this is most likely whats happened. Alternatively, there may be low pressure in the vessel or a blockage on the inlet side.

Hi agree with lee above, your best to check if there is water coming out of the valve on the vessel, if not then well worth draining the boiler and resetting the pressure.
If still no joy then sometimes a good idea to fit an external vessel kit its much cheaper than the manufacturers vessel and eliminates the possibility of the inlet been blocked also cheers jon.

Happy to sort this for you. As guys above say, expansion vessel or pipe to it blocked. Post your findings and easy to diagnose from here, cheers, Steve

Are you having to top the boiler up it could be just the case that the filling loop is passing you will probably also need a new prv (bits thats causing the water outside ) as when they are operated they do not tend to re seal.
