I would like to buy a backup-programme but I am not sure which one. It should be easy to use and it should be able to make backups of single files. Also, automatic backups are important. Which programme can I get for that?

try Genie Backup Manager i quite like it plus i think you can get a 15 day trial

Cobian or Syncback are both excellent backup programs, i tend to prefer Syncback myself, but thats just ma choice.....both are free, download and enjoy

Go for Norton Save and Restore!

It does automated backups, either of the whole system, or individual files and folders. It's easy to use, too, but gives you great flexibility for everything you might need.

You get to chose when you want your backups done, or where to put them, how secure they should be (even encrypted! but mainly you can chose between incremental and stand-alone backups.)

If you couple it with Norton Internet Security, you can even tie it in to the virus alerts - if the system notices anything fishy going on, you can do an emergency backup of your most important stuff on the spot. (You could do a full backup too, but in that situation I would want just the important files copied ASAP!)

OMG.....Nooooooooooo.....Norton is one of the worst of the worst. Only use it if you want to break your machine.....see other threads on the subject!

Norton own Veritas which I have used for years and have found it very reliabile. It all depends what you are backing up and how you have not said if you are baking up to another hardisk, usb flash drive or even a tape drive of some description. I recently have installed veritas 10 which i am waiting for our higher up tech guys to sort out or give me permission to edit the registry to let it overwrite foreign media dont think they liked it when i emailed them the link for the soloution.

I would vote for Syncback too. Cant remember if I had to use another program but when I shutdown my PC Syncback copies all my modified documents/downloads etc to a second drive. Manual RAID on a budget
