I was in the Hobbycraft in Northampton earlier in the week. I was quite surprised at the range of Yarn they had. Obviously there wasn't any Koigu etc, but there was a good range of Rowan, RYC, Sirdar and Patons, plus lots of books.
I must admit to not being a massive fan of the place either. I think they try to cater to too many tastes (as befits the name, I guess), and so end up just doing everything superficially. There was no air-conditioning in the branch I was in either, so it was sweltering!
Yarn bobbins and cable needles? We'll have you doing intarsia and aran knitting in no time
