almost everyone you see in the city centre is eating a sausage roll from greggs and everyone has a bottle of water, even though i wasnt thirsty i thought i must finally have some bottled water. i got a bottle of water £1 from greggs it tasted exactly same as tap water (if not a little dryer if that makes sense).

p.s. i didnt get a sausage roll as a friend of mine works at greggs and she nor anyone else from the store eat from there. for reasons im not sure im allowed to say.

You ask why do people buy bottled water? I'd like to ask why did you buy a bottle of water for £1 from Greggs even though you weren't thirsty?

...and why can't you tell us why you didn't get a sausage roll to eat?

Well I for one buy it if I'm out, thirsty, there are no drinking fountains about I've and either finished the 500ml bottle I typically have in my bag or for whatever reason didn't take any water with me.

I buy bottled water because I dont take the kitchen sink and a glass out with me!!

I prefer water to fizzy drinks and such like so if I get thirsty while I'm out I buy a bottle!

Why not reuse the same bottle & fill it from home - for 0.00001p per ltr?

If petrol cost the same as bottled water there'd be uproar!

we have a water chiller @ home.
the mineral content of certain bottled water does give it a different taste(usually).
however it is the cold factor that we use it for.
more refreshing than warm tap water, and if it's bought from a shop it's hygenically sealed in a bottle.

I used to think Sheffield water was nice until i got into Evian.

Mains water now tastes like pond water whenever i have to drink it.

Evian seems much more refreshing in the gym too.

I buy bottled water because I live in a hard water area and the water from the tap tastes less than pleasant. When I was in Sheffield, the water was lovely, especially chilled.

I usually buy a litre bottle with a sports cap, from a supermarket (it's cheaper), when I start a new job, so that I can just fill it with tap water, or water from a water fountain, each day, keep it on my desk and drink from it when I want to. It's so much easier than having to fill a plastic cup every five minutes.

If I'm thirsty when I'm out I'll but bottled flavoured still water cos I don't drink a lot of fizzy stuff....but at home I drink tap water by the gallon.

When we visit my b/f's family in Brum, I can't drink their tap water as it tastes absolutely vile.

If I'm out and I'm hot and/or thirsty I'd rather spend up to a quid and get some bottled water than be tightfisted and wait til I get home, by which time I'll probably have a raging thirst, foul dry breath, a headache and be dropping from dehydration.

Yes its expensive and of course its wiser to fetch a bottle of tap water out with you, but there's no sense in going thirsty and making yourself feel ill just to save a pound.

Sorry mate. This is ********. We have brilliant water. I used to work at a water nozzle testing plant. We were supposed to use bottled water only to make the tests completely fair. However, safter having the tap water tested,it was found to be better than the bottled water. It's a simple fact.

Personal opinion and past experiences, but to be fair its what your used to. I guess if you came over to where i'm from you'd find our water

Bottled water is OK, but £1 or so for one small bottle is a right rip-off. When I was on holiday in Italy a few years ago you could get a pack of 6 1.5 litre bottles for the equivalent of about 70p.

i normally buy a litre bottle of water every couple of months.

then i fill it up from the tap everyday to take to work with me.

then only reason i replace the bottle is because after a while it gets a slightly plasticky taste (which im sure cant be good for me) or ive left it at work and the water there truely is horrible.

It tastes completely different to me, and much nicer - though some brands are better than others. I have wierdly accurate taste with water, maybe not the most useful talent but I can tell the difference between brands and estimate the mineral composition. Mineral water is definitely nicer than tap water - there are also health concerns with tap water.

I drink mineral water at home, and if I'm out I'd usually choose to drink water.
