The Bank of England is facing a threat of court action for failing to adhere to equality laws following its decision to replace the only historical female figure on English banknotes with a man.

Solicitors acting for feminist campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez have written to the Bank accusing it of failing in its duties to eliminate gender discrimination under the Equality Act.

Amy Winehouse would be a good one, as you could go to a wine house(supermarket selling booze) and hand over a winehouse fiver and buy a bottle of wine.

Then you can take the wine to your house..

Good point.

Nonsense legal action.

I'd have thought it would be more fitting to have an image of Lady Godiver on a five pound note, the imagery would be cool and that is what many people call them already.

An image of a fat, bald and drunken old bum who's influence was more down to luck than merit seems strange to me.

Or someone with such a grievance that only the application of many, many fivers by way of damages will assuage it.
