I know there are a few excel whizz kids on the forum so here goes.
I have a spreadsheet which consists on one column and about 3500 records.
I want to insert a blank row every 50 records - now I could count down every 50 and do insert row but otoh, i would rather watch the grass grow.
How can I automate this on excel 2003 ? (or can I?)
Thanks in advance

You could write a macro to do it. If you dont know how, let me know - it sounds pretty simple..i could have a go at writing it for you

macros are beyond me i am afraid
A google search indicates that this may be the answer though
Can find references to it but only in a "excel tips" download booklet (+ pay)

This should work:
Scroll down to the bottom of the worksheet and highlight the bottom row. Then choose Insert -> Name -> Define and call it "bottom"
Then go to Tools -> Macro -> Macro... and type in a name and hit create.
Then in between the sub and End sub paste this:
Dim rowNo As Integer
For rowNo = 1 To Range("Bottom").Row Step 50
Rows(rowNo & ":" & rowNo).Select
Selection.Insert Shift:=xlDown
Next
That will insert it after 50 rows so if you want it at the 50th change the Rows line to rowNo -1
