If you ever get the opportunity to see a documentary called "Super Size Me", it is about a man from America who decides to eat McDonald's food for 3 meals a day for 30 days. His film tracks his progress of his life and his health. It is truly amazing and eye opening. You may not ever want to eat at McD's again.
But saying that, life is about choice and should you choose to eat at McD's, then go for it - it's all about moderation and portion control.
As for the comments about their marketing strategies geared towards children, I personally find it appauling. I don't have any children myself but have many friends who have children who are pressured into taking their children, by their children. Children learn very quickly and eating habits of children in North America have gone down hill very rapidly and the health organization I currently work for has filed a "report card" stating that "Fat is the New Tobacco" 2 years ago and from an organizational priority standpoint, childhood obesity is one of the top items to help educate Canadians.

I personally love a good greasy quarter pounder every once in a while - haven't had one in over a year. But my choice, right?

How can a child pressure an adult into anything?! Think some parents need to get some balls in that case. Ronald McDonald is laughing at them! Children learn from their parents, not a company.

i'm extremely proud of the fact that my 2 year old has never even been in a mcdonalds and if i have my way he never will.
anybody who's read the quorn thread will realise by now i'm a commited carnivore but i refuse to eat at mcdonalds for the following reasons.
i object to the way they manipulate children by aggressively advertising and in some cases getting very close to telling flat out lies and using toys as bribery.
the food is tasteless, greasy and repellent and never fills you up in fact more often than not it leaves you hungrier
i dislike the way the exploit teenagers into working for extremely long shifts and using aggressive management tactics in order to keep them in line including not allowing them to join unions
said staff are then not motivated and it shows. every trip to mcdonalds is a horrible experience
you know what, there are millions of reasons not to go to mcdonalds it just gets too boring writing them all down. suffice to say they are a vile company with questionable ethics who sell a bad product very well. anybody who's mug enough to go there and think its good is entitled to do so but for my money. i'd rather not.

here you go, heres a recipe for burgers. get off your behind and actually make a burger from scratch for yourself.
you will need
about a pound of either decent quality mince. make sure its got some fat running through it, thats what holds it together
or a pound of either chuck steak or shin or a combination of the two.
a couple of large onions finely chopped
a clove of garlic very finely chopped or minced
fresh ground black pepper
tablespoon of hp
hendersons relish
oregano or thyme
what you need to do
take the finely chopped onion and garlic and fry in a tiny splash of olive oil on a very low heat until onion is softened and just starting to colour.
take off the heat and spread out on a plate and allow it to cool
if you have chuck or shin put it in a blender and pulse until it is finely chopped.
put the meat in a bowl with the onion and garlic, the pepper, the relish, the hp, the herbs and use your hands to squish it together to make it roughly solid.
get burger sized chunks of it and roll it into balls then press the balls into discs leaving them about 3/4 inch thick.
fry in a dry frypan moving them as little as possible top with whatever you want.
sit back and think about how good they are compared to mcdonalds!
