Do people remember the first world cup they can remember?
I can remember Mexico '86 only because I had the sticker album. I can't remember watching it as I was in junior school at the time.
Remember Italia '90 more as I watched most of that on TV and had the crappy computer game!
I found USA '94 good (loved watching Romario at the time) , but the final was an absolute bore-fest between Brazil and Italy. Also, I knew Ronaldo went to USA '94 with the Brazil, but did he actually play? I can't remember.
Loved France '98 because the country where my parents were born (Jamaica) qualified. Had divided loyalties between England and Jamaica during the '98 tournament.

Spain 82 - got home from school just in time to see Bryan Robson smash home the goal v France after 27 seconds. Dont remember a great deal about that tourno though, apart from Keegan missing that late header in the 2nd round.

Argentina 78. Archie Gemmil's goal stands out for me, as well as Willie Johnston being banned for drugs. Remember Scotland thinking they were going to win

remember all the fuss about one of the argentinians wanting to play in the 1978 final with a plaster cast on his wrist. Came out of the dressing room with it on and nobody new anything about it - ref etc
I think the final got delayed while it was sorted out.

I remember the final in USA '94 (I was 15 then)! That penalty miss by Baggio, I thought he was going to turn to playing Rugby after that! Brilliant conversion kick.

I can remember seeing anti-Maradona t-shirts after Mexico '86, but I can't remember the tournament itself.
I can remember Italia 90 well though. Up until that point I hadn't really understood about international tournaments and supporting England, but I was really into it by the end. My dad was one of those people who'd go to a pub that didn't show the game, and frantically avoid hearing it all night so that he could watch the highlights when he got back. We'd watched the semi-final and he arrived back afterwards hoping we'd not give away the result, but he knew we'd lost because I'd been crying my eyes out.

Hazy memories of a final with Italy and Brazil, so it must have been USA '94.
Did one of the players have a ponytail?

That was the one! And wasn't there another Baggio playing in that game too? Or maybe another Roberto? I seem to remember two of them having the same name???

I think it was one of the Van der Kerkoff twins (for Holland clearly). The Argentinians were ages coming out onto the pitch and when they did, they refused to play until the cast was removed.

Dino Baggio I believe.
My first memories are of 74 when everyone was a Holland supporter, "Total Football" etc. And the Brazilians being the most thuggish, dirty side ever.
I didn't watch the final, we were busy playing our own world cup final outside with people yelling the latest score out the window.

1966 - still got my "World Cup Willie" pennant and glove puppet and the programme.
Went to a couple of games at Hillsborough and watched every game live on telly then when the film "Goal" came out sat through it twice in the Gaumont in Doncaster.
What joy to be an eleven year old.

8 years old in 1966 sat in a bar full of Germans in Spain watching the final. Only English supporters were me and my dad but we still went mad when we won. I think nearly every German fan came over and congratulated us, could you see that happening this year (apart from the fact that I dont think we'll win it !!!)

Italia 90'.
I was nuts on Walter Zenga, he was my idol and even choose goalie position due to him.
Also remember Roger Milla and the toys from Mcdonalds during that tournament lol.

I remember the 1954 World Cup from Switzerland but it was mainly from newsreel coverage. I remember the Swiss logs at the back of the goals which I guess were to keep the nets in place.
It was a great final with Germany pulling back a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 through a Helmut Rahn goal. The Walter brothers were a famous pairing in that team.
