I know primark wanted the old Allders site but i'm not sure if it was booted as lowering the tone.

Primark hasn't opened in meadowhall and i dont think there ever will be one as i heard a rumour that meadowhall's spokesperson said it would give out the wrong message about meadowhall, meaning it wasn't good enough but i cant see how they can say that as they've made flippin poundland bigger than it was!!!!

I was told by someone that works in Meadowhall that Primark have been refused a unit due to M & S and others being against them opening in the Mall, could be just gossip - but it did come from a person in management.!!!

It's probably more to do with the competition than the lowering of standards.

Meadowhall management don't want Primark in Meadowhall.

Visitors to Meadowhall are split into different shopper profiles numbering from 1 to 5 depending on background, earnings, age etc, and Meadowhall have a low percentage of the high earners (no. 5's) (big spenders) this is the customer they most want to attract now. Have you ever wondered what the market reasearchers are asking when you go to Meadowhall?

The lower profile customer (no. 1's) i.e. you and me they want to keep but don't feel the need to cater to what we want as we can get it on the High Street.

Sadly Primark won't be coming to Meadowhall. Shame, I work at Meadowhall and could go down every day in my dinner hour!

I can rememebr reading somewhere that the average disposable income within an hours drive of the Trafford Centre was twice that of within an hour of Meadowhall.. which just goes to show.. or something...

I hate the snobbish attitudes towards Primark - If I have £50 quid to spend on clothes I can either by a top and some jeans in New Look or buy 6 outfits in Primark - either way I still spend £50!! It proper gets on me nerves!

I saw the title of this thread and just went HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

No seriously. Primark in Meadowhall? It'll never happen.

I'm not snobbish by the way, I just know that there will be some Meadowhall shoppers who would be, thus I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they'd said, "No, it might lower the tone".

I completely agree with absynthfairy... if I had £50 I'd rather go to Primark (aka Student Heaven) and get loads of clothes than only be able to buy one top from some of these other high street shops. Rip-offs. How much does it friggin cost them to make a top anyway?!?!?

Well if by some miracle they do get to Meadowhall, could someone please ask them to employ someone to tidy up the place a bit more often? I went for the first time on Saturday in town, it was like a massive jumble sale, piles and piles of stuff all over the floor, strewn everywhere in fact, and you couldn't get round to see most of the stuff as it was so packed. Congratulations to them as they've obviously got a a gap in the market covered, and do some really good lines at amazing prices, but commiserations as people will soon get fed up of the bun fight.

They will have to send all the number 1's to the bargain basement commonly known as ........." Crystal Peaks "

I think that's part of the reason MH don't want one - it gets scruffy very quickly and hardly makes the centre look good. ALthough anything would look better than the dark blue painted shop units that used to be Smiths and a bit of Allders - they could have used a light colour in such a dark corner!!!

Lowering the tone...lowering the tone. I'm sure I saw a Poundland last time I unfortunately got dragged round that place.
