As an armchair fan of sheffield united, could going into the prem be a mistake (not my view) if perhaps they do badly next season then wouldnt the fans start taking it out on the players and management like they do with swfc... i hope not. lets just enjoy next season and if we drop back down, then at least we had one year up their with the big guns and have something to aim for again. oh the stress of it all. Are there any celebrations days planned. like street partys or owt????? answers on the back of an owls fan please.. only kidding

I understand there is an open top bus celebration next Wednesday evening from the Lane to the Town Hall for a civic reception. Funny that - I thought Reading won the league????? And before you jump on me, im not an owls fan.

good news for sheffield though isnt it. bet they are doing the same in reading. nice to see something good happen for a change, instead of muggings, police getting shot. just heard a big screen is planned showing sky sports news whilst you wait for the party bus. something like that anyway. my mate works for an aerial installers and they might have the job of rigging up a freeview system in town. ( shame that i didnt get it as they are my competitors) bugger!!!!!

Apology over United 'pigs' jibe.. former Lord Mayor of Sheffield has apologised after inadvertently sending rude comments about Sheffield United Football Club to his entire council.
Sheffield Wednesday fan Councillor Peter Price was replying to an e-mail from the city council's press office about the club's open top bus tour.

In it he referred to the club as animals and said their "pig muck" would have to be cleaned up after the tour.

But instead of replying to the press office he clicked 'reply to all'.

Responding to details of United's city parade on 3 May to celebrate the club's Premiership promotion, Mr Price wrote: "The RSPCA will be pleased to see the special measures being introduced when animals are being transported through the streets of Sheffield."

He also said the council would need its waste collection company to "follow them to collect all the pig muck".

A spokesman for Sheffield United supporter's club said Mr Price should consider his position.

I'm sorry it has upset some people

Councillor Peter Price

"I know it's not earth-shattering but I still think it's very disappointing from a person in his position," he said.

Banter continues

Mr Price later apologised and said his comments were not meant to be offensive.

"I'm sorry it has upset some people, particularly the people at Sheffield United because I'm delighted really that they've got promoted," he said.

"I hope also that we (Sheffield Wednesday) get promoted as well because I think the region would benefit from two Premiership sides, but the banter will continue."
