Wow!! I just love those ... they don't remind me of anyone else's work. I think you have a unique style all your own.

yummy, my ego is being delicately sooothed!
the person who got me back into drawing was stephen somebody-or-other, famous autistic child who drew buildings in london.
i realised you didn't have to plan your drawings, you just got an ink pen, started in the middle, and worked around it. no altering, no adding, just making it up as you go along and just for fun.

Very good! I too am an artist who likes doing street scenes. I especially like the way some of them fill the space with no sky or foreground. It's unusual and has a zoomed-in feel.

thanks for that!
interesting about the space thing....there's something about leaving space round things to let the viewer fill it in in their minds.
at the risk of entering pseud's corner, it's like music: most of it is empty space, not notes.
to definately get to pseud's corner, it's like the make-up of the universe: mostly nothing!

I know it's very hard to talk about visual things in words without sounding like a pseud. I've thunk a bit more, and I realised that those ones with no sky reminded me of the sensation of being in Sheffield. It's a characteristic of the city that because it's so hilly, wherever you go you're suddenly staring into a wall of hillside, or the gradient exagerates the tallness of whatever buildings are marching up the hill, and your field of vision fills up. We don't have a horizon, and wherever we look we keep losing view of the sky. Being in Sheffield can feel quite enclosed.
Most artists concentrate on experimenting with the lines and textures while keeping the conventional formats. You've found a new way of looking in the first place, which is distinct - you could develop it as a trademark characteristic. Good luck with the next batch!

wow!
these comments just keep getting better and better!
i'd never thought of sheffield like that but i think you are right: either you are in a valley and the skyline is above where it would be in norwich, or else you get to the top of a hill and sheffield is just a line of buildings way down below!
as for the trademark, if i play my cards right i could put a "TM" above every blank space!

Let me add my compliments Pete, I love them. They are really quirky and really feel of Sheffield.
I think you can see the love you have for the place.
What with these and the photo's, you should publishing a book. Honest.

hi boroughgal!
glad you noticed the quirkiness...
time to name my favourite....for reasons of wonkiness, fun and (as you mentioned) the love of the place:

technically not the best, but manages to make sheffield look like a page from a comic book!
