I had some stomach problems last year and as a resul, have an endoscopy apt tommorow, they said the camera will hopefully rule out serious problems in the bowel area-serious problems before anyone makes a joke!
Im just drinking the laxative stuff-kleen prep or somethin, and its so bad im nearly being sick everytime i have a mouth full, i have nearly 5 pints left to drink, so does ayone have any advice as tohow i can make it taste better! I have tried adding lime cordial and clear lucozade, neither of which really take away the vile taste!
Im also a bit scared about tommorow, can anyone put my mind at rest?

I have had a gastroscopy with the camera going in the other end which was pretty unpleasant and not helped by the fact that I didn't have the sedation on offer.
Hope the diagnosis is satisfactory.

I have had a colonoscopy, and that cleen prep stuff is the vilest invention ever! Try to get it down you as it ensures the success of the procedure. If you have worries or concerns - check with the medics and if you are allowed drugs to make you drowsy/relaxed - take them. Good luck - hope it shows all clear. xx

Its really not that bad. The key is to relax and really think about something else and concentrate on it really hard.
The worst part of it is the taste. Once its in you can't feel it.
Breathing slowly also helps.
Its about 5-10 mins.
Hope that helps

I've had the old camera down job......I hated it.
Take the sedation, but make sure they give it time to work.....mine kicked in about an hour after I had it done.
I don't envy you!

When I had mine, because it was private and I was only 16, they put me to sleep for it, so it would be easier I was so glad

I have had it done loads of times but the first one is the worse one and if you havent had it done before then the wait is the worrying part, take my advice and go for the sedation if it is offered to you dont try it without as it can make you gip, you have to be very relaxed for the camera to go down and if you are too tense then it will be a bad feeling and it wont be nice for you, as for the drink I tried everything I could to get rid of the vile taste but just stuck it out and drank the stuff, the end result is bad enough when you have to get rid of it I never left the loo for about 45 minutes it just came out of me like the flood gates had opened up. I think it is about time that they started using the fibre optic camera what is now out thats one thing you dont feel as it being only thin but the other camera is way too big I nearly passed out when I saw it but it turned out to be the wrong camera they was going to use. you will be fine just make sure the sedation works on you though I have had it 8 times and most of them started when it was over, I have also had the camera down without the sedation about 7 times you just get use to having it done, thankfully I dont have to have it done anymore touch wood came the reply, having once had a drink problem I had to have it done nearly every week but thats gone now yipee.

I had an endoscopy done not long ago, it's not that pleasant but if you take the sedation it's not that bad and you don't really remember it afterwards.

my dad had this done the other week he said if it was a choice between finding out what was wrong so it could get treated or just potentially leaving something to get worse it was worth it and I don't think he was sedated either

I had a colonoscopy and it wasn't much fun. It wasn't terrible, just a weird painful feeling when its moving around. Hope it all went well.

Have to agree with the others the KleanPrep stuff is the worst bit.
I assume your having the colonoscopy? camera up your jacksie!
Not nice, but you wont know anything about it under sedation.
Pdrsnf - last post 3.37pm Prep must be working, probably sat on bog now!
Ive had both, camera down mouth without sedation - boy that was so not fun

I have an endoscopy (down the throat) every 4 weeks, I dread it every time and I have no idea why because I still don't remember any of them.
I have a vague recollection of one of them when I was so tense that the sedation wouldn't work I ended up keeping myself awake
Since then, I try and relax and make myself as calm as possible.
One word of advice - I always try and have a really late night the night before so I'm knackered, then the sedation works better!
Good luck - hope all is well and they are able to rule out any serious problems.
