I currently have British Gas for both my gas and electric.

In short my bills are just well very pricey, especially my gas bill. I'm on the Essentials Tariff, even though just looked online and this doesn't seem to still be running?

I'm not one for swapping providers but I now feel as though need too. Any advice of what provider to change too, or what to ask British Gas themselves to change me too, to possibly get my bills down.

Thanks.

Even if you change providers you won't save that much. I suspect there's a bit of price fixing going off anyway thanks to SLAs and stuff, but personally I'd never use British Gas again, even if they gave me free energy and paid me.

Which? magazine and 38 degrees recently organised a big switch and negotiated block rates from the providers. I moved from Atlantic to Scottish and saved nearly £300. I was quite shocked at the significant saving.

Hey thank you, just visited moneysavingexpert.com. Unfortunately I find this site a minefield, he never really answers a question. What I mean by this is there's always a snag or catch to every option which I know there is in life, but I find his explanations both over-complicated and that he just doesn't say out right which one is best. When I watch a site like this one, i just think what's the point in changing at all as each provider have their own pit-falls.

But thanks for info.

Bizarrely, Atlantic offers me a very good package deal- dual fuel discount, direct debit discount, and one month's DD rebated annually.
E-on tried to do me a better quotation but couldn't match Atlantic. so I'm staying put!

Just looking at Atlanic now. Never heard of them, like I said on original post I've never changed anything at all just remained with same old company's but now the cost of bills is teaching an old'ish dog new tricks.

Wow, I had to laugh, here I am asking for a cheaper provider than British Gas and just looked up in the Shefffield Forum advertisement border at top of page to see that British Gas are offering cheap gas / electric.
