Unitedites following the Blades on the road next season will again clock up over 5,000!

Danny Wilson's troops face several long trips including a first visit to the Broadfield Stadium to tackle newly promoted Crawley Town, who the Blades have never faced in competitive action.

The miles and hours will add up with trips to the likes of Yeovil Town, Bournemouth and Portsmouth, all of which will be an eight hour plus round trips from Bramall Lane.

A visit to the Keepmoat Stadium is United's shortest league trip of 2012/13, although the usual army of supporters will no doubt pack the away end at Glanford Park for the clash with Scunthorpe United.

Another first will be an away day at the Greenhous Meadow, the home of newly promoted Shrewsbury Town.

AFC Bournemouth - 450 miles (8 hours 26 minutes)
Brentford - 322 miles (6 hours 10 minutes)
Bury - 101 miles (2 hours 20 minutes)
Carlisle United - 332 miles (5 hours 54 minutes)
Colchester United - 369 miles (7 hours 30 minutes)
Coventry City - 167 miles (3 hours 6 minutes)
Crawley Town - 408 miles (7 hours 4 minutes)
Crewe Alexandra - 120 miles (3 hours 6 minutes)
Doncaster Rovers - 42 miles (54 minutes)
Hartlepool United - 217 miles (4 hours 8 minutes)
Leyton Orient - 333 miles (6 hours 32 minutes)
Milton Keynes Dons - 230 miles (4 hours 14 minutes)
Notts County - 78 miles (1 hour 46 minutes)
Oldham Athletic - 85 miles (2 hours 6 minutes)
Portsmouth - 451 miles (8 hours 8 minutes)
Preston North End - 161 miles (3 hours 10 minutes)
Scunthorpe United - 89 miles (1 hour 42 minutes)
Shrewsbury Town - 175 miles (4 hours 16 minutes)
Stevenage - 283 miles (5 hours 28 minutes)
Swindon Town - 322 miles (6 hours 16 minutes)
Tranmere Rovers - 170 miles (3 hours 32 minutes)
Walsall - 141 miles (3 hours 20 minutes)
Yeovil Town - 469 miles (8 hours 34 minutes)

A long old season again, still working hard on our second supporters club from Sheffield, expensive season never the less!. Problem in this league is that yes the ticket prices for games are much more welcomed but the pitches aren't as good as in the leagues above therefore buying train tickets in advance can be a git of a gamble as games might be called off.

Looking forward to the long trip down to Portsmouth again, some good pubs down there and generally a good day out so let's hope it's not on a Tuesday night otherwise I will be booking a couple of days off work to fit it in.

Tiverton away in the 1st round of the cup would be a good one to add to the list.

That tie date is/was the bane of every league one and two travel organisers' life, with dates, kick off times, tickets, travel and even accomodation to be arranged at less than two weeks notice.

The other side, is that it allows you to get a Saturday and Sunday fixture in, if your game gets moved for Television coverage!

But that is one task I'm now relieved to be shut of.

That's a total of there and back.

Distance isn't a major issue for myself. I'm generally either going or I'm not.

The cost isn't particularly a lot more as we generally drive and split between 4.

However, occasionally we will impulse attend games, and that's where this can have an effect.

Worse draws than that as well, Gillingham immediately springing to mind.

The Exe Valley in early November should still be quite pleasant, and the days adequately long enough for Danny to get a few rounds of golf in (assuming he is still in the job, that is ).

It would make up a bit for his disappointment in missing that golfing holiday that you had booked him up in La Manga last month!

There again you could get drawn against Colwyn Bay or Wrexham away in the First Round of the FA Cup.

Under which circumstances you could make a weekend of it in Rhyl.

See if you can outscore your team!
All within the rules, and with a partner or against an opposition capable of offering an adequate level of defence of course!!!!

The Wednesday fans will be enjoy many Championship away days to such places as Reebok Stadium, Molineux, Walker Stadium and many more decent grounds.

A trip away to Crawley or those listed above?

I know what I would take.

But then again, this is what it's like supporting Sheffield's only Championship club.

You follow your team home and away then, fair play to you mate and enjoy your travels it's a pity a few more are not as dedicated as yourself.

If anything he swerves the question, according to many on here he harps on about things but doesn't even follow the club, ok he might go to the odd home game but never away!. Now I understand people can't always go away which is fair enough, but to harp on about us having to go to places and the Owls other places when he doesn't go himself is a bit cheeky and deluded don't you think?

And you can report the post if it makes you feel better, I'm not attacking anyone or attempting to insult anyone simply making a point.

As I've never been to Crawley, I'd choose that over the ones I have been too.

Walkers is a plastic stadium in a poor surrounding area.
Bolton is ok at best.
Molineux is a right dump....

Not saying that I believe Crawley will inspire much, but it will be nice for a change of scenery.

Out of the teams in the Championship, there's only Charlton, Blackburn, Hudds, and Watford that I'd look forward to visiting again.

With the ones you've picked, it shows you know little about away days.

The third division does offer a break from routine, and the offering of new outposts is a novelty to start with.

I really enjoyed our trips to the south west, despite the annual defeats (and snow) at Exeter - where our record is about as good as yours' at Wembley, i.e. 1 draw in 5 visits!

You just don't want more than two seasons in it.

Have fun on your travels. Anything between 3 pm and 5pm on a Saturday is a bonus.

exactly i thought the away day at leicester was one of the better we've been to. i don't envy any fans having to do the distance the blades will be doing next season though, i'm glad we only got 2 seasons of it(not that i got to any of the away days)
oh and the amount/quality of the ale houses aren't such an issue for us designated drivers
