Russian ghost car?

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised no one else's started a thread about this.

Watch

video and try to come up with some kind of (sensible) explanation. I've watched it loads of times now and can't figure it out ... is there even a driver in the car that seemingly appears from nowhere?

Mmmm very interesting.

I can't work it out either. Could it be deliberate fake footage?

Video editing

It's not video editing, it's not plain to see at first but when the car turns left, there's a brief flash of headlights visible diagonally through the passenger window, through to the windscreen, as a car shoots out from behind the side of the waiting tram. It pauses briefly in front of the turning car before deciding to pwoer on forward.

It's easier to see in the slow motion replay.

Looks good though!

Someone has attempted to explain this here...

Link from : discussion at http://uk.node1.topgear.com/uk/car-news/are-there-ghost-cars-in-russia-2014-04-16

Also, if you play/pause the youtube video, you can see a small bit of the back of the car as it cuts across in front....

I think that animation is accurate for tracking the cars path....

That car on the right puts its brakes on an instant before we see the "ghost car" suggesting that, though we can't see it, the spectral automobile was spotted by that driver first.
