jbertzeletos 10 #1 Posted January 21, 2017 Saturday 18 March 2017 3:00pm to 11:00pm Old Sharrow Junior School, South View Road, S7 1DB Map We are delighted to invite you to the next Ganapati Groove mini festival. There will be live music, yoga, dance, kirtan, massage and arts & craft activities for all ages. As ever, there will be a feast of veg, vegan & raw food and cakes. Come join us and embark upon a journey through the healing vibrations of mantra, yoga and dance meditation. With our very special guests Avalon Roots, Tim Chalice, Tom Simenauer and DJ Darshana. Avalon Roots Avalon Roots was originally birthed in the heart of Glastonbury, UK, and is an eclectic band of musical players, directed by Caribbean born lead singer & songwriter ‘Green T’. Dedicated to creating good earthy vibes & warmly encouraging all people to sing & dance together, they lead a nomadic lifestyle around the UK & beyond. With a distinctive blend of soothing ‘plant matrix mantras’ & roots reggae infused soul songs, Avalon Roots sing a simple & universally accessible message. Following many years of improvising live & exploring different musical themes, the first Avalon Roots album ‘Creation’ was released in early February 2015, on ‘Temple Monkey Records’. At Ganapati Groove, Avalon Roots will be sharing an acoustic set with us, with a small but perfectly formed band line up. Can’t wait! Tim Chalice Tim sings Kirtan, devotional music from the Bhakti tradition. Tim runs monthly Kirtan sessions in Bristol and Bath and has shared Kirtan at Bhakti Yoga gatherings throughout the UK. He has also released three CDs, the latest of which, ‘Give It All Away For Love’, was released in 2016. As Tim writes: “This practice of chanting is a great source of joy and nourishment. I love the depth of silence that is achieved by chanting and this is an essential element of my sessions. I use meditative and ecstatic chants with Sanskrit mantras and English words, accompanied by simple melodies accessible to the Western ear. The repetition of these chants is a powerful and transformative practice, taking us deeply into our hearts. Chanting provides an opportunity to sing out without fear or judgement, dissolving feelings of separation and awakening compassion.” Conscious Dance with DJ Darshana DJ Darshana will be leading a whole new conscious dance at the event. Expect another cosmic alchemical fusion of dynamic beats, divine disco, world tribal grooves and devotional chants that will take you on a journey into bliss. At Ganapati Groove DJ Darshana has everyone up dancing, young and old, and it is a highlight of the evening for many. Family Yoga and Adult Yoga As ever there will be family yoga with Joanna Bertzeletos of Yoga Nature. There will also be two taster sessions of adult yoga with local yoga teachers. The world of yoga is so huge and varied these days, why not give a different style of yoga a try? Cloud Nine Décor create gorgeous colourful décor for all kinds of events, including Glastonbury!
