How would you stop people becoming fat?

Recommended Posts

MPs argue that national and local government and the NHS must do more to prevent people becoming obese and unwell. That could include regulation of what goes into food, a ban on marketing sugary drinks to children, and much more support for people at risk of obesity and diabetes, so they do not need bariatric surgery. How would you stop people becoming fat?

Teach proper cooking skills at school and make a certain amount of PE per week compulsory.

I worked with a woman who weighed 16 stone. She was on a diet for 4 years. She started to eat a new cheese that had half the calories of her previous cheese. She consequently decided she could eat twice as much. After 4 years she still weighed 16 stone.

Some people will just indulge themselves.

Yes, then only the bankers and Cameron's mates will be fat cats.

Raise benefits and in work benefits to allow families to buy healthy food instead of stocking up on the crap sugar and salt laden stuff that cheap shops sell, and supermarkets have on offer.

Print warnings on bottles, cans and pub glasses on how many calories alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks have and the effects they can have on the body - like with cigarettes.

1) Introduce a 4 day working week by turning 1 current working day into a 'Healthy Cooking Day' - that way everybody can use this day to plan for the week ahead and cook several healthy meals in preparation instead of not having time in our busy lives and ending up with too many takeaways.

2) Close all local shops and introduce main hub food courts in central areas, stopping evening 'pop-outs' for snacks etc.

3) Introduce germ warfare - put germs in bad foods that can kill you, and fill vegetables and fruit with the antidote. Thereby guaranteeing anyone eating rubbish will also have to eat healthily to survive.
