Of course there is, but some won't own up to it and the others have to travel so far to find a decent pub that only a few are visible in daylight the rest are transported in from afar by late night transport !:hihi:

Lighten up ,i have lived at Winco for 38 happy years and call it Wincobank not "Upper Meadowhall" like some of the Jenkin /Sanstone residents do, the comment about lack of pubs etc.was made in sad reflection of the down turn in community meeting places. It is a known fact that from the day Winco workingmans closed many of the members didn't venture out again at night,

To me it will still be known has my village.

I have never heard the term "upper meadowhall", is that what people call it now?

There was brightside and wincobank for me. Wincobank starting around Oxted Road and going over the hill to Standon etc. Below that being brightside.

I've never heard the term "upper meadowhall" either.

I've heard "upper wincobank" and "lower wincobank"....simply because the two communities are separated by a bloody great hill called Newman Road.

I lived there for 28 years. Left last year.

I'm from winco. I mean proper winco. I was born in brightside (which in my mind Jenkin/Sandstone are brightside) 31 years born & bred &never heard the phrase "upper meadowhall"

I tell you what gets my goat- people from the flower describing it as "upper Wincobank"

Well how come the post office that used to be on Wincobank Avenue was called HIGH WINCOBANK POST OFFICE? Maybe thats why they refer to it as that!
