What did Northlands community centre on Southey hill used to be when it was first built?

I went to Southey Green Juniors up until 1953. It was then a nursery school, if we are talking of the same thing.

My grandparents lived a few doors away on Northlands Rd. In the 50's, I seem to remember that it was used or occupied by nuns.

Well it is now and has been for about 15yrs an NHS building. someone here thinks before that it was a Hostel. Im interested in what it was built for. It is a very big building and oldly shapped and randomly placed next to houses.
