Did anyone work at this firm that had a Sheffield branch based in offices above Castle market in the 60's and 70's ?

My late Dad worked there for many years.

I would be really interested to hear if your Mum remembers my Dad.

Please PM me with any information if you are able.

Thanks in advance.

D'ya remember the machines piled up in the far side of the livingroom, Sis?

Sadly, the building he used to work in is now a pile of rubble.

Ironically, we went to a job there only the other night, when a 'customer' wanted to 'obtain' some copper piping that (allegedly) didn't belong to him. A canine employee assisted in denying him the acquisition.......

Nice one !

Yes I do remember all the machines - think each one had a semi transparent cover on them.

Also remember Dad taking me to work on a Saturday morning sometimes and buying me a comic to keep me amused !

I think he worked on the top floor above the market.

However Dad managed to heave those heavy machines in and out of his car boot and deliver them to the businesses I will never know.

Do you remember him having the dark green van with the company logo on the side in white ?

Nice one SYP btw !

Hi Daven. I've just spoken to Mum. She trained there in '79/'80. Unfortunately she only remembers 2 ladies there.

Awh - that's a shame.

Dad would work in the workshop sometimes but was out on the road visiting companies and fixing the machines insitu for much of the time I believe.

Thanks for asking anyway and regards to your Mum.

I worked at Sumlock from 1964 to 1968 as an engineer. What is your dad's name?
