Samsung S3 "contacts backup failed" notification

Hi people.

My fiancée has my old Samsung S3 and a notification keeps popping up saying Contacts Backup Failed. I've checked sync is on and checked that it will backup to Google fine. I just can't work it out, it's been unblocked as a Lil phone shop
