Ladders - remember to lean 'em up against something.

Had to laugh at the old girl earlier. I'd just borrowed the neighbour's ladder to collect the ripe cherries that were out of reach on our tree. "Remember to lean it up against something" she says.

Now how do you learn something like that? Years of experience obviously.

I have a ladder that doesn't need to lean on anything, they are really useful when pruning trees and picking fruit.

I guess that wouldn't have been as funny then.

Maybe you had to be there? "Remember to lean it up against something" won't be forgotten in our house for a while!

I'd love to see that warning on new (straight) ladders, like the Rowenta iron warning "Never iron clothes while they are being worn"

... it's almost worth a trip down B&Q just to see ...

I guess there will be something like this

Mustn't get on a roll with this, I have things to do.

Forget about ladders, what about general safety advice

Safety at the zoo

Let's just work things out for ourselves .. finding shade for lunch

Health n Safety at my place of work doesn't allow us to climb more than two rungs on a ladder. Bloody barmy.

So if something is just out of reach you will have to put the ladder on a box. ;)
