I'd just borrowed the neighbour's ladder to collect the ripe cherries that were out of reach on our tree. "Remember to lean it up against something" she says.  Now how do you learn something like that? Years of experience obviously. Years of experience obviously.   I have a ladder that doesn't need to lean on anything, they are really useful when pruning trees and picking fruit.
