Egypt Currency?

Egyptian pounds (which all stink!) and US Dollars should be all you'll need.

I've just come back. They take ANY currency. Traders use calculators to convert and will accept anything. The English pound is accepted anywhere. Street traders will sell to you in whatever you have.

The Egyptian money is of course accepted, I used it for taxis but that's about it. It's filthy and you MUST wash your hands after using it. I was told from a few sources that Egyptians keep it in their pants if they have no pockets!

We're off t'Egypt again in November too, its a great winter holiday destination and we loved it last year. We took both Egyptian and English money although we were quoted a better rate for the diving trips that were ran from our hotel if we paid in Sterling, but as the other posters mentioned they really do accept anything over there! Hope that helps
