Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan etc, etc.

It seems as though every Country in the East who we have helped? to remove the leader or dictator has now turned out much worse than it actually was when these despots where actually in charge .

Millions of people are now on the move trying to escape these Countries even after we are supposed to have liberated them .

All the above now have religious dictators who are just as bad as the ones they (with our help ) got rid off.

Is Syria the next failed victim of our interference ,is it time for us to say that we have just wasted time along with millions of pounds and lost lives on lost causes.

I think you have about summed it up, but I don't recall any of these countries ever asking for our [help].

I totally agree that all of those were unforgivable atrocities, as to whether or not our intervention has improved or worsened the situation is another matter.

In the mid 90s there was genocide carried out in Rwanda. In the space of 100 days over 800,000 people were murdered. The final number is estimated at over 2 million dead.

What did the west do about that?

It seems that we 'intervene' in those situations where there is something in it for us.

North Korea has nuclear weapons, the west will definitely involve itself there and may even carry out a preemptive strike.

Both you and thorpist make excellent points. You can add darfour and even Sri Lanka to that list well.

In what way would IS be a stable entity if Saddam was still in power?

He would have crushed them. No opposition was allowed during his dictatorship.

As bad as he was he wasn't in the same league as IS who are pure evil.

Under Saddam Christians were allowed to live in peace and practise their religion. There were 1,500,000 Christians in Iraq when he was in power their number has now been reduced to approximately 300,000.

When IS take control of an area Christians are given the choice of converting or dying.

As for Al Qaeda they were originally supported and trained by the CIA back in the 80s to fight the Russians.

As for Gaddafi for all his faults he was far more progressive than other despots in the region.

He ensured that both education and medical treatment were free.

Electricity was free and under his stewardship the worlds largest irrigation project was carried out.

What the US has done, with the UK acting as its lap dog, is bring total chaos to the region.

Things were bad, the west has made them worse.

That doesn't excuse the pure evil that was demonstrated in Mancheste,r but it does go a little way toward explaining it.

Spot on.

The west has obviously made a bad situation much worse.

when will we realise that we're not there to police everyone (or to steal their resources) ?
