Tommy the Turkey

Recommended Posts

Born back in May all not knowing then Winners,

Come December they are lined up for Dinners,

From the very first moment these chicks are born,

Their little bellies will be filled with fatten me up corn,

In the brood there is seven chicks and a Mother,

There will be no compassion for either sister or brother,

One little Turkey they named him Tommy,

Always seemed to be close to his mommy,

He Tommy was such a greedy little chuff,

Into his stomach went this fattening stuff,

Soon Tommy was bigger than his Mum,

For this Turkey maybe Christmas couldn't wait to come,

Tommy after 20 weeks was a shocking thirty pound,

He could hardly lift his stomach off the ground,

Most people prefer a fresh turkey on their dinner plate,

But poor Tommy was going to have an early fate,

Picked off his feet and taken away to the shed,

His neck was rung till Tommy was dead,

Insides pulled out, and his feathers removed,

Poor Tommy the Turkey could now be consumed,

Into a fridge before being placed into a bag for cooking

On the back were the directions for when adding stuffing

No doubt most will have a Tommy as their Christmas fayre,

Little will never question just how they got there.

Poor little buggar!

I know it's a bit heartless but is it their fault, for being so tasty?

Good, fun rhyme JB.

Have you read Benjamin Zephaniah's turkey poem.

If not John, look it up, online.

It's worth watching.

Keep plugging away JB.
