Mikes10 Â Â 10 #1 Posted July 11, 2017 W10 version 16232 has an option built into Windows Defender called 'Controlled Folder Access' which will probably be incorporated into what M$ are calling the Windows 10 Autumn Creators Update, and it's their answer to Ransomware. Â Controlled folder Access ( turned off by default ) "Protects your files and folders from unauthorised changes by unfriendly apps". Â A full description of this feature is given on the following link: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/microsoft-announces-controlled-folder-access-to-fend-off-crypto-ransomware/ Â On my W10 test machine I run Libre Office 5.3, and it appears not to be on the M$ list of friendly apps, so had to add it. Â Anyone else who is running this pre-release version and has found a program that is blocked, can you post on this link. Â There are already some paid for AVS that incorporate a similar feature, it will be interesting if other companies offer this feature on their free versions.
