tzijlstra   11 #18 Posted July 11, 2017 (edited) Snowtown - an Australian film that got very little attention when it came out. I saw it on Netflix and it is probably the most toughtprovoking and hairraising film I have ever seen, in fact, I started whatching it around 10PM, in bed on the laptop. After an hour or so I switched it off in horror but knew I would get back to it. Woke up at 6AM after a night of tossing and turning, decided I wanted to know how it ended hoping for a happy ending.  That film lodged itself in my mind for 3 days. Most expectation exceeding aspect? It is based on a true story.  On Rotten Tomatoes it says this (score 86) - "It's a bleak and brutal endurance test, but for viewers with the strength and patience to make it to the end, Snowtown will prove an uncommonly powerful viewing experience."[/Quote] Edited July 11, 2017 by tzijlstra
 Share this content via...

Guest   #21 Posted July 12, 2017 "L'Armée des ombres" (1969) ( Army of Shadows) from Jean Pierre Melville. I was blown away with this war drama when I first saw it, you can really feel the tension that was present among resistance fighters.
