johnsbucket 10 #1 Posted January 30, 2015 Ma says tha’s left light on kid, Not sure but don’t think I did, House was lit up like Blackpool Illuminations, One of her typical exclamations, Need to flick switch off when coming down stairs, There’s no wonder I’m starting to get grey hairs, Must think I’m made of money tha dozy chuff, Another remark just to say things were tough, Them day’s bath day was Sunday Neet, Kids were first which seemed, like a treat, Three of us would share the same water, Hair washed and scrubbed, by oldest daughter, Off the radiator would come this nice warm towel? Ma would shout make sure you cut their nails which were greeted by a scowl. Now in pajamas we would sit on carpet by smokeless coal fire, Ma would be saying be quiet kids as the noise was getting higher, On telly she would be watching that Palladium show, As soon as it finished she would say off to bed you go, Can we have some supper one of us would say? This was our usual trick that would cause a bed delay, Ma would go to the kitchen and bring back some biscuits, You can have one each but be quick kids, Then we would shuffle over to give her a kiss goodnight, Off to bed she would say and Don’t Forget to turn off that Light.
