jaffa1 Â Â 10 #5 Posted March 15, 2017 Excel. Some of City Taxi drivers aren't that nice. Â I agree with you on this , that is why I stopped using them. I now use Apollo mostly ex Mercury drivers and not too expensive, friendly and reliable. I'd stay well clear of Uber they rip you off. pattricia   575 #6 Posted March 15, 2017 I use City Taxis. Always on time picking you up, friendly drivers and reasonable prices as well.
 Share this content via...
allwednesday   11 #7 Posted March 15, 2017 I'm moving away from city it's pot luck if you get a decent driver and a lot of the cars smell of tobacco! However some of the drivers and cars are ok! I've recently been using Uber and upto press not had any smelly cars or unfriendly drivers but you have to keep an eye on the prices they do fluctuate so the jury is still out on them. Puggie   10 #9 Posted April 15, 2017 Ignoring Uber as I dont have smart phone who is most reliable?  The service isn't restricted to smartphone users.  You can request a ride using a standard web browser which comes in handy for receptionists and office staff  https://m.uber.com/
 Share this content via...
WalkleyAndy   10 #10 Posted April 15, 2017 I second Apollo Taxis. Always used to use them as S1 Taxis before they merged. I play in bands and often need a black cab at a specific time, they never let me down. Drivers always seem particularly sound as well. UK1Quest   10 #11 Posted April 15, 2017 Excel are usually more reliable than city from my experience.  Id seriously consider Uber, you can use them without a smartphone and can pre-book. Its cheaper, however be aware that they have been accused of underpaying their drivers. If you belive in ethical business practice dont choose them ;-)
 Share this content via...
Puggie   10 #12 Posted April 15, 2017 however be aware that they have been accused of underpaying their drivers  Not strictly true as virtually all taxi drivers are now self-employed, Uber and the incumbent alike.
 Share this content via...
