Bilge   34 #61 Posted March 21, 2017 Lol - some of us remember when there were less than a dozen pubs in Sheffield with handpumps. If my memory serves the Museum back in the late 70's was the first to have 4 real ales on handpump - Batemans, Castle Eden, Pedigree and a Whitbread? offering that slips my mind.  Yes, in my pub life we've swung from a complete lack of choice in beer terms (just keg Johns/Stones/Wards/Whitbread in most pubs and no handpumps) to (in my view) a ridiculous ever-changing array of beers in several places, most of which are not that amazing frankly. I don't need 5 blonde ales or 5 brown bitters. If I like one of the beers it's not there the next time I go and I forget it's name anyway. There's little brand loyalty.  Uni Arms is an OK pub with OK beer. It's not somewhere I think of going very often. But I certainly don't want the building demolishing.  Castle Eden - I'd forgotten that one!
 Share this content via...
