staninoodle   175 #13 Posted June 29, 2016 Anyone who watched that Portugal game prior to the euros knew we were going to struggle, they played like a bunch of strangers. Beggers belief, the squad selection was predictable, these players play a certain way at their clubs,we went out with players that werent in their natural positions and it showed,we should have ripped a very mediocre Russian side to shreds, got lucky against Wales and couldnt break down a resolute Slovak side. The tactics and selection were all wrong, beats me why we cant play a typical English game and put sides under intense pressure, with a more natural 442. We need fresh ideas and a fresh approach, who is anyones guess.
 Share this content via...
blake   10 #14 Posted June 30, 2016 Gascoigne- who individually could change a game.  the only player England have produced in the past fifty years who could, in an international match.  Gareth Bale does it every game for Wales and nobody says he's a lard-arsed drunk.  England football is and always has been fecked. Bypassblade   10 #15 Posted June 30, 2016 the only player England have produced in the past fifty years who could, in an international match. Gareth Bale does it every game for Wales and nobody says he's a lard-arsed drunk.  England football is and always has been fecked.  Bale has more talent in his big toe, than Gascoigne had in his body just a total P*** head who threw away a good career, and has not been out of news for all wrong reasons since he finished.  Saw the DAFTEST story this morning, there is camapign to make Beckham manager of England, now that would be a total disaster. steve68   66 #17 Posted June 30, 2016 Gaza's was a good player but unlike Bale couldn't handle fame.  Gaza is clearly still struggling with keeping out of trouble.  https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jun/29/paul-gascoigne-stand-trial-alleged-racist-joke-comedy-show  On the England football note P45 at least half of them, what with the dandruff boy always thumping his chest he's far too aggressive, bit less testosterone and the use of a few more brain cells might help.  He should have been pulled up on the use of the f-word when in the players tunnel holding a young mascots hand, screaming out the F-word as I say far too few brain cells.  To anyone who say it shows passion, give me a cool calm headed player anytime. Futures Red   11 #18 Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) Bale has more talent in his big toe, than Gascoigne had in his body just a total P*** head who threw away a good career, and has not been out of news for all wrong reasons since he finished. Saw the DAFTEST story this morning, there is camapign to make Beckham manager of England, now that would be a total disaster.  Got to be a wind up. You see there's the problem, people think change the players, change the manager etc.  Its the culture and mentality that needs to change. And sadly it won't because of money and wealth.  The players have nothing to fight for. Individually they've never been in a scrap. Never had to fight for anything, never had to wipe their own backsides. And so they think they've got nothing to prove. They always seems an indifference to playing in the national team.  If you look at the Europeans, individually... winning to them means a completely different thing.  Most of them play without fear and play with desire, hunger and confidence. And seem laser focused.  Our lot will will argue and say they have it too but they don't. You just have to look at the behaviour when their on the pitch.  Kane, Stirling, Hart, being an example.  We've got some decent players but when there's no discipline and focus then you'll never win nowt.  When professional adults start to complain that they are bored in a major tournament, then that's all you need to know in terms of where do we go from here. Can you imagine the SAS doing that when on operation when there waiting around. Edited June 30, 2016 by Futures Red
 Share this content via...
top4718 Â Â 838 #19 Posted June 30, 2016 Lets hope fans see sense and totally boycott the next England home game, voting with our feet is probably the one and only way to end the stranglehold of greed thats destroying the game. top4718 Â Â 838 #22 Posted July 3, 2016 Any of the big footballing nations would have beaten Iceland comfortably tonight, they've had a great tournament but are plucky triers and no more, this puts Englands pathetic performance in an even dimmer light. Gamston   10 #23 Posted July 4, 2016 I can't see anything changing for England anytime soon. The problem seems to be the players think they are and are treated like superstars, which clearly they are not  A good manager might help. The England Rugby Union team were the laughing stocks of the 2015 World Cup. In 2016 they have won the Grand Slam and beaten Australia 3 - 0 in their own backyard.  ---------- Post added 04-07-2016 at 07:32 ----------  Any of the big footballing nations would have beaten Iceland comfortably tonight, they've had a great tournament but are plucky triers and no more, this puts Englands pathetic performance in an even dimmer light. Well summed up.
 Share this content via...
Southey owl   10 #24 Posted July 4, 2016 http://www.thefa.com/news/england/2016/jun/roy-hodgson-post-euro-2016-press-conference-280616  Hodgson says he will support the Football Association " in any way " as it seeks to find a successor to him as England manager.  That coming from the failed manager , tactically inept who in his own words said " he didn't see the Iceland defeat coming".
