tinfoilhat   11 #37 Posted May 28, 2015 Breathtaking speech from Septic Bladder today, taking no responsibility for the years of corruption under his leadership. Instead he addressed the future, secure in his own personal conviction that he has a future in Fifa.  It was time to change, "for football, for the world, for peace", and he is the person to see that change through.  "It must fall to me to uphold responsibility for the well-being of the organisation."  You couldn't make it up.  You sound surprised. Why??????
 Share this content via...
whiteowl   54 #38 Posted May 28, 2015 Blatter won't ever walk away from the top FIFA job. The only way he's going to go is if he dies or gets removed. The rest of FIFA appear in-effectual, so perhaps the general public needs to put pressure on the sponsors ? The money men. "Coca-cola - supporting corrupt football organisations since 1974" "Every coke you buy helps kill a migrant working in Qatar"  Or something like that. Picked on Coke but there are plenty others. Just need to get a hashtag trend going on twitter or something so the media can pick up on it.
 Share this content via...
johncocker   10 #39 Posted May 29, 2015 (edited) "they're estimates that Qatar will spend $200 billion over the next decade in preparation for the World Cup" So lets see if our brave journalists have the guts to show us on front pages the US, British, French, German..... companies who are participating in this bonanza with their Qatar divisions profits and some serious question to CEO of those companies how is it to do business in those shores We hear only about the nepali slave workers( but it is presented as only Qatar and Fifa's fault and we have nothing to do with it. Platini please remind us why Sarkozy "advised" you to vote for Qatar(was it a military contract or big business deal). vlad the inpaler and his crooks are making a killing out of their world cup for sure but even they can't be bothered pretending they're playing a fair game. .... staninoodle   175 #45 Posted May 29, 2015 The likely outcome will be a boycott of russias 2018 tournament.....who wants a WC in warzone anyhow. EUFA will most likely stage a rival tournament if theres an appetite and enough big name sponsors, which shouldnt be too hard after recent revelations
 Share this content via...
JFKvsNixon   11 #46 Posted May 30, 2015 This is looking interesting, apparently Jack Warner wore a wire to gain evidence of the corruption. He's obviously taken a plea bargain to give up evidence and work for the FBI.  Also for the FBI to indict the members the evidence would have already gone in front of a Grand Jury. So the battle win centre around getting the accused extradited to the USA.
 Share this content via...

Sweatshop Nike and coca-cola whose columbian "partners" alledgedly get right wing nutters to kill trouble making Union leaders? I think they will stay with Fifa no problem at all if it works for them.
 Share this content via...

I think they will stay with Fifa no problem at all if it works for them.  I think that if the sponsors do leave FIFA, it will be a business decision not a moral one. It could happen because FIFA is on it's way to becoming a toxic brand, and the sponsor will not want they businesses associated with a toxic brand.
