Endcliffe park is shut ... police cordon tape all over 7 police cars ,1 riot van , 2 ambulances and helicopter flying around anyone know anything ?

Hope the lad recovers and the knife carrying dross gets put away for life. We do not need these scum on our streets.

Do love these nostalgia quotes about "the good old days" of national service. Knifes were used then and now, the problem isn't about how you fight, it's that there's youths been attacked or fighting. Wish the lad a speedy recovery and hope the Police get to the bottom of this and nip it in the bud. There were problems over there in the late 90s if I recall correctly.

How would National Service help?

Teach them unarmed combat, so they fight without a knife?

Train them to kill rather than maim when knife fighting?

What would it be? I dont want my taxation spent on armed forces who aren't combat trained.

Equally I don't want it spent on dragooning swathes of the young population into community work.

What's your suggestion?

This, by the law of averages, is what would have happened when we had conscription. And many conscripted soldiers would have been among the heroes we are remembering just now....
