Hi everyone.

I've often wondered why mobility scooters don't have an alarm fitted as standard. I regularly see them left outside shops while the owner is inside and I've heard multiple stories of them being stolen. I know mods have a key but usually they can be turned using a screw driver or a key from another scooter.

I'm wondering if people would be interested in a service that would fit an alarm directly fitted to the scooter batteries. On my wheelchair I have wired a motorbike alarm which senses movement and can have a pressure pad fitted under the seat.

So what do you think?

I didn`t realise they could be so easily stolen by using a simple screw driver instead of the key. There certainly seem to be vast scope for improvements by the manufacturers.

I have fittd a battery alarm to mine, though a wired system would be better. I find it quite ammazing that people just leave these expensive aids outside shops, pubs etc without any security - The theft of mobility scooters is on the rise.
